

On site registration and pre-registration check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. in the Industrial Technology
Building at Mt. Hood Community College.
The first session starts at 8:45 a.m.
The conference qualifies for Professional Development Units (PDU’s). Certificates verifying
attendance will be available at the conference.
TECHNICAL SESSIONS
Automotive Industry (Industry support is available for the first 40 re-registered automotive
instructors. Send in your registration form without payment and you will be contacted only if you
do not receive industry support).
Automotive sessions will consist of individualized sessions covering all 8 ASE areas (over 50 topics
anticipated!).
Construction (Industry support is available for the first 10 re-registered automotive instructors.
Send in your registration form without payment and you will be contacted only if you do not
receive industry support).
Nicholas Jasper, P.E. will be presenting on "Post Frame Buildings" – Introduction, Design and
Construction.
Teaching Math in Shop Class – This session will familiarize the teacher with the state standards for
CIM math problems-solving. The teacher will be given help in how to write problem-solving
scenarios for the technology student and practice using the state scoring guide to access the
student’s work. You will this workshop with something that can be applied to your class the next
day.
Tom Hull has taught Integrated Technology at South Umpqua High School for 18 years and scored
the 10th grade math problem-solving tests for the state of Oregon in the summer of 20025 in
preparation for this workshop.
Hands on Problem Solving - Come join educators from around Oregon in sharing past and current
knowledge in a group atmosphere. You will be given a challenge geared for teachers at the
workshop and participate as members of problem solving team. You will leave this workshop with
the confidence to orchestrate problem solving activities with your students. Our presenter, Mike
Bryant, is a Vocational Technology Instructor South Umpqua High School with a BS in Technology
Education.
AutoCAD - presented by Ron McGuire, Roseburg High School AutoCAD Instructor. Ron is an award
winning AutoCad instructor.
Battle-Bots An Affordable Multi-technology Curriculum – presented by David Ewing, Heritage High
School. Mr. Ewing will have on hand two battle-bots built by his pre-engineering class and will also
share his multi-technology curriculum.
Steam Engine Demonstrations (student Projects) – Jerry White is a retired engineer who
volunteers three days a week in the South Umpqua High School shop program. He will be
demonstrating several engines that the students at SU have made and will have plans for anyone
interested in these projects.
