Manufacturing
Session 1- 8:45 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
The Steaming Teacher – by Bob Delgatto, Clackamas Community College
The streaming teacher curriculum is being used to train teachers and professionals from around the
country in the latest version of Mastercam and CAD. The courses are video-based and narrated by the
instructor. It is very similar to sitting through a teacher-led demonstration. Students have 24-hour access
to the materials. Streaming teacher is also a platform open to any software-related instruction.
Session 2-10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Metallurgy and Welding Certification- by Craig Anderson, Clackamas Community College
This session will cover the basics of metallurgy and the AWS certification process for different positions
and processes
Session 3-1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The Bottle Launcher – by Tom Hull, Marshfield High School and Mike Bryant, Myrtle Point High School
Plans will be provided for a project that is fun to make and use while at the same time gives students an
opportunity to practice print reading, problem-solving, math, and writing.
Automotive
Session 1 – 8:45 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Alignment Theory and Future Trends-by Chris Young, Hunter Corp
Chris Young from Hunter will be talking about alignment theory, which will not
only include primary and secondary angles, but also drivability issues. What
happens when you lift or lower a vehicle and put different sized tires and
wheels on. We will then discuss Future trends. There are several changes to
vehicles happening now and in the near future, that will affect how the
technician performs a wheel alignment.
Session 2- 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems-by Dick Nordness, NW Tire Dealers Assn.
Dick Nordness from the Northwest Tire Dealers Association will be presenting on the design, operation and
service of modern TPMS systems. Did you know that 100% of 2008 vehicles use them? Will you and your
students be prepared to do a proper tire rotation and recalibration process of the TPMS? Are you aware of
the necessary procedures when dismounting, mounting, and balancing new tires on TPMS equipped
vehicles? If not, you don’t want to miss this opportunity.”
Session 3-1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The afternoon session will have "mini sessions" consisting of:
1. Math in CTE. Presented by Pat Garcia (Mountain View HS) and Mike Ruff (Gresham HS).
This is a presentation from two experienced instructors who designed and implemented a quality Math in
CTE (Auto Tech) program. Learn about the process, see the materials they've developed, and hear about
their proven techniques.
2. Learn about the latest update of the Automotive Technology End-of-Program
Assessment, a soon-to-be-required part of Perkins 4 "approved" Automotive
Technology programs in Oregon. Presented by Dennis Mattoon (Mt. Hood C.C.) and Tom Thompson
(ODE).
The test validity and reliability have been established and the on-line version is on the way. Are your
students ready?
